The research conducted in this thesis investigates the process of prototyping a novel musical interface dubbed "the s-cable". The s-cable protoype is a modified instrument cable that acts as a gestural musical interface fabricated using conductive rubber cord.

A prototype performance interface. The interface consists of "boxing bag" with an embedded textile soft sensor connected to an Aduino board through a simple voltage division circuit. A data stream bridge is built between the Arduino and SuperCollider to modulate sound parameters, specifically the cutoff frequency of the filter envelope used to define the "punch" of the synthesized kick drum.
